Environmental & Planning

The area of environmental law and planning has developed hugely in recent years. There is an ongoing requirement to balance the need to protect our environment against the need to develop infastructure to cater for the future growth of the economy and the population of Ireland.

We deal with all aspects of environmental issues including assessing environmental risk, defending prosecutions, regulatory and compliance issues, environmental due diligence, the preparation and review of environmental warranties, negotiating indemnities and disclosures, waste licences and waste contracts. We advise clients on the establishment, maintenance and operation of renewable energy projects such as wind farms. We advise on all planning issues to include submissions, appeals, oral hearings, compulsory purchase orders and judicial review.

We deal with a large volume of cases in the area of Compulsory Purchase Orders (CPO) and advise clients on the CPO process, from the invitation to treat, through to the arbitration process, the perfection of title and all other matters involved in concluding the process. We deal directly with the Local Authority and other government agencies with a focus on striving to achieve the best outcome for the client in the most cost effective fashion.
